RHESUS INCOMPATIBILITY

 

Aside checking the blood group for Genotype compatibility, another blood test very important to potential mother is the Rhesus compatibility. This is a condition that occurs during pregnancy when a woman has Rh-Negative blood and her baby has Rh-positive. Rhesus rarely causes complications in first pregnancy. it does not affect the health of the mother but Rh antibodies can be dangerous to fetus on later pregnancy.

it can cause severe Anaemia, jaundice, brain damage and heart failure in new born babies.

it is advisable to have a blood test to avoid the child having the symptoms above including swelling in body, trouble with mental functioning, movement, seizures hearing and speech.

Rh-Negative can be treated with Rh-immune Gloulin during and after pregnancy.
