FROM THE CONFERENCE

After intense deliberation from our Beijing conference, I wish to deliver my message in pidgin language. Dem say make I ask our men say “ na so we sef marry una? Some of u no gree upgrade.

We see smart young intelligent guys yet we keep to our vows…

We see rich men seeking our attention, yet we keep our vows…

We have burning desires and urge like you, yet we keep to our vows….

We face temptations just like you, yet we keep to our vows.

We know prayer is crucial, that is why we pray. Why don’t men pray too?

Do you think other men cannot compete with you?

You do not tell us the good things we need to hear every day, do you think men out there are not whispering compliments we want to hear from your lips into our ears. Yet we build a wall of distance.

We dress smartly and other men admire us, we reply with a look that says don’t go there and the curtain of distance is pulled down instantly because we want to keep to our vows.

As young couples, you told us sweet nothings, passionate entreaties of undying love.

You took us to lunch, dinners and parties, you were hot in the other room but you are now sloppy leaving us with blunt reminders of moments shared, yet we still keep to our vows.

We are saddled with so many tasks including taking care of children and our first babies like you

How do you expect us to compete with a side chic whose only task is to decorate herself with paint like jezebel, who have ample time to perfect her hanging from the chandelier with other men beside you?

Men need to upgrade too.

Take us out, do not be ashamed of our distorted shape, you made us so. When you see shapeless waists do not go urggrrrr, remember they carried the joy and pride of your manhood.

We want to dance, we want to party, we want to take us to dinners and give us surprises.

We want to hear compliments, not criticisms. We want to hear your love poems and not your chauvinistic African proverbs.

Men you need to upgrade!
