ESTHER’S DIARY-DAY 4

Now how do I describe Akanni? The combination of father and mama Akanni produced a mystical dread.

Hahahaha? Akanni and his siblings were terrors. arole Akanni carried himself with a delusional large ego.

Akanni was cruel; his streak of cruelty was beyond this world. He as raw and pure evil! Akanni was shaggy, shitty and sharp tongued! His smile was leery bordering on lechery; his voice was hoarse and coarse to the ears like clanging irons!

He was a cultured trouble rouser, children suffered cruel taunts and violent kicks from Akanni.

Mama Akanni always sent Akanni to go stoke trouble especially from maami agba. He was haggard and shaggy because he was always high on something cheap.

Akanni was creepy and spooky. The streak of cruelty always brought constant conflicts between father and angry parents. Provocation fascinated him and seeing angry parents storming the house to report him gave him twisted satisfaction.

Arole Akanni once broke the leg of a boy of his age when on errand for daring to pass through our frontage. Akanni was barely six years old! He took a rough wood and smashed it on the boy’s leg splinting the wood in the process. The sheer agony was a fatal one that resounded houses away. While the wounded boy was howling in pain and agony, Akanni laughed maniacally. It cost father a huge amount of money to ensure the boy’s leg was not amputated.

Akaani once poured itching powder on little girls playing innocently, Akanni hit another friend in the eye almost blinding him. Akanni killed chickens for fun, he killed goats, and he killed anything that caught his fancy. Father paid for all Akanni killed or destroyed! Akanni pulled down washed clothes from the lines stomping on them. Akanni kicked and stoned everything and everyone in sight. By now father had began to despair.

However, Akanni was not through yet!

As he grew older, the streak of cruelty grew like a tree. Akanni yelled at teachers, he disobeyed authorities. He was merely tolerated in every school he went because father spent huge money to keep him until the schools kicked him out when they could not tolerate him any longer.

Akanni dropped out of school in primary four at the age of 13. He just simply followed a tout to the motor park from school and did not return for a week. That was the beginning of Akanni’s life as a professional tout.

He began smoking and snorting, Akanni brought cheap girls into the house. He raped and beat them up. He also forced other girls into the house to rape and beat to stupor after taking his cheap substance. As little children, we cowered in fear when the wailings of the poor girls pierced our souls. The beating often left trails of blood mad scars. He always fought and strip naked the brave ones who fought back pulling them on the ground and throwing them out of the house like rotten bag of onions

Some brothers have fought back in defense of their sisters, Akanni and his eight brothers fought back. They never lost a fight. They used bottles, they used stones, they used knives, and they used anything in sight. Most times the outsiders retreated promising to retaliate another time.

Our house was an arena of battle with Akanni and his brothers as the infamous gladiators. Mama Akanni was always proud of her children. She clapped and cheered them on shouting to everyone’s hearing that she would one day defeat and subdue her enemies through her warriors.

The acrid smell of whatever Akanni smoked with his gang became a permanent fixture of the household.

When Akanni went out the household heaved a sigh of relief when Akanni returned troubled breezed along with him

Akanni stole from his mother and father at will. He burned through his spoils like a bush fire in harmattan. Akanni was a weasel and a scoundrel

Akanni it was who organized the quick dispatch of father to his forebears because of the incident that took place a week before father made the fatal journey!

Akanni was just eighteen years old.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
“You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
